The World Within Us
I am going to tell you the truth at the center of all of this. Then I am going to tell you that the telling will barely touch you, and I need you to hold both of those at once.
Thought is the only force there is. Whatever you hold in thought begins to take shape, the good and the bad alike, with no preference between them. And belief is the thing that gives a thought its shape, the way a sculptor's hands give shape to clay. This is why I spent four teachings on desire and on belief before I would write this one down. They are not the warm up. They are the whole of the machine.
The other side taught me this law before I had words for it. There is more than one world behind the veil, and the one you cross into is the one your thought has been building. I have stood in worlds made of a single worry, and in worlds made of a joy I had been feeding for a week. Same law, no preference, no filter at the door. If you want proof that thought is the only force, that is the proof, and I did not enjoy earning all of it.
Now the turn that everything has been walking toward. The world is not around you. It is inside you. You are not a small figure standing in an enormous world. The enormous world is a small thing held inside you. And yes, from there, a mountain can be moved by thought. But never by someone who still believes the mountain is outside of him, solid and far off and nothing to do with his mind. The mountain moves only for the one who has seen where it actually is.
The world is not around you. It is inside you.
Here is the part I promised. You have just read the truth, and it did almost nothing to you. That is exactly right. People have written this same truth for thousands of years, in every language there is, and it has changed almost no one. Most of you already half know it. You have felt it standing behind the words of a dozen books. But half knowing a thing and that thing being true for you are two different countries, and words cannot carry you from the one to the other. Only the crossing can. Cross, and this stops being a sentence you read. It becomes the floor under your feet.
Because on the other side it is not taught to you slowly, a piece at a time, the way I have had to set it down here. It is handed to you whole. You are dialed into all of it at once, every answer and every understanding, and the strangest part is the plainest part. It is yours. It was always yours. You were only standing on the wrong side of a thin wall, looking the other way.
The mountain was never the hard part. Believing the mountain is inside you, that is the work, and it cannot be finished from here. So we cross. Everything else, every last thing you came looking for, follows from that, and from nothing else.
Say what you have seen, or ask what you need to ask. I read all of it.
